Austin ~ Texas Capitol & Texas Chili Parlor ~ 18

There is so much to do and see within the city limits of Austin. I started keeping a checklist on my phone of ideas for places to see, things to do and great places to eat and have a cocktail. Recommendations and ideas came from fellow campers, friends who have been to Austin, TV shows,  travel and tourism sites and blogs… even Facebook. Our list grew…and grew…and grew (AUSTIN CHECK LIST).  We obviously have to go back. Today we toured the Texas Capitol grounds and building.  Our friends Nancy & George joined us for the outing. We met them a few years ago while camping in Arizona and the funny thing is they live an hour and half from us at home. We met them in Florida this past November and they wandered out to Texas this winter also.

The Texas Capitol building  and surrounding grounds are a great way to enjoy an afternoon.

We did a self guided tour inside the Capitol. There are a variety of tours provided.

Treasurer’s Business Office was full of artifacts used in the office throughout history.
